Treasurer’s Report:

Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report made by Bill McGuire and seconded by Joe Pomponio.

Vice President Traveling:

Received an email from the MOSA Games Commissioner in reference to any game cancellations this Sunday or next Sunday due to vacations.  Games are to be played as scheduled.

January 4th there will be a soccer expo.  If anyone is interested please see Troy for more information.  Pre-registration is $10.  At the door is $15.

A new law in the state has been passed to end the poor sportsmanship demonstrated by coaches, players, and parents.  As a coach, you are in charge of the field.  If you see a situation, contact one of the Board Members and they will help.  Parents who are ejected from the field will have to attend an anger management class to be permitted back to a sporting event.  NJ will follow the Code of Conduct and so will our club.  We had a problem with a Division 3 game in which the referee stopped the game because of racial comments made by a player.  This comment, moved to the sideline where parents were watching.  The problem escalated and the game was stopped.  In this situation the players, coaches, and parents were spoken to.  The parent was asked to leave the field and understands that they may not return to another game.  As coaches, it is our responsibility to teach good sportsmanship to our players and model this while we are on the field as well.  This is especially important in Division I.  If we can model and mold their behavior while they are young, problems such as these are not likely to happen, as they grow older.

Vice President of Recreation:

Division 1 parents will be allowed to sit with their children during the games in the spring.  Some Division 1 coaches were able to maintain the separation.  Divisions 2 & 3 parents will remain separated from their children.

Steve Maker, our MLS trainer, spoke briefly on our rec. program.  He stated that a lot of good things were happening on the field.  Lots of encouragement, and improvements were made across the board.  However, coaches need to keep in mind to stay out of the penalty area when the game is in progress.  It is very intimidating to the goalie.  The floor was open to any and all coaches that wanted to speak on the job that Steve did with not only our recreation players but our traveling teams as well.  Steve received many remarks that were positive on his trainings and practice sessions.  Steve also received a round of applause from all the members present.

Quartermaster:

No dogs allowed on the field!

Old Business:

On the PSA web page there was a mini poll for the trophy party.  The dates are Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th.  According to the poll results, Sunday is preferred.  The poll will remain active until November 11th.  Once the final numbers are in, coaches will be called to inform the parents of the date.  Please do not forget to call all of your players, even if they have not made all the practices and/or games.

All nominations were carried over from the previous meeting.  As of tonight, the current nominations are:

President:  Bill O’Connell

Vice President of Traveling:  Troy Yaede

Vice President of Recreation:  Kelly Schnepp

Treasurer:  Angela Roguso

Quartermaster: (2 positions) Paul DellaZanna and Bob Peschko

Secretary:  Vicki Landolf

All nominations were motioned and seconded.  All positions were accepted by the nominees and will be carried over to the next meeting.

New Business:

If your soccer team would be interested in fall team pictures, please contact Sandra Forsythe.  Her name and number are indicated on the flyer.  PSA sponsors pictures only in the spring.  These pictures are up to the discretion of the coaches.

MLS camp will be Monday through Friday from 9AM to 12PM from August 11th to August 15th.  Each player gets a ball and a shirt.  If a traveling coach can get their entire team to the camp, the coach gets a free coach’s kit.  We would like to see the number of participants increase for this camp session.

Traveling teams winter practice schedule will need to be created as soon as possible.  We may use Tuckerton Elementary 5 nights a week and Bass River 2 nights a week.  Please adhere to the school’s rules or we will lose the privilege of using their facilities.  See Bill for each school’s rules and dates that they are closed.

The new bathrooms are working; please keep an eye on them.  There are no trash cans inside, so please make sure that trash is disposed of properly and not in the toilets.  If you see anything out of the ordinary concerning the bathrooms, let a Board member know.  A surveillance camera is active and can see all the fields.

Bill is in the process of researching grants and other ideas to expedite the installation of lights on our fields.  Any ideas, suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated.

All traveling Soccer Coaches must have their spring rosters handed in by the February meeting or no checks will be issued to that team.

We will be redesigning our registration forms.  Bob Buono, Troy Yaede, Paul DellaZanna, Bill O’Connell, Mike Angelos, Vicki Landolf, Pete Byrne and Jason Nass will meet on November 15, 2002 at 8:30PM.  This committee will discuss a new design for our registration forms.

Five options were presented to PSA from MLS for the upcoming spring training sessions.  The different options were discussed, but no further action was taken at this time.

The next meeting will be on December 3, 2002 at Tip Seaman Pavilion.

Motion made by Pete Byrne to adjourn the meeting @ 9:52PM and seconded by Joe Pomponio
